About coffee in Swidnica
After the Peace of Westphalia the emperor consented to a Lutheran church in Świdnica, but hedged the consent with conditions meant to void it: outside the walls, no tower and no bells, built only of wood, clay, sand and straw, and all of it ready within a year. The Protestants did it in ten months and put up a building for seven and a half thousand people, with twenty-seven entrances. The materials were supposed to guarantee it would not outlast one generation. It has stood since 1657 and is on the UNESCO list.
