About coffee in Senec

Senec's best-known landscape was dug by the railway. In the mid-19th century gravel was excavated here for the line from Bratislava to Galanta, and five flooded pits eventually merged into a single lake: over a hundred hectares and up to twelve meters deep. When a bathing resort opened on its shore after the First World War, it was dubbed the Slovak Tahiti. Tahiti didn't last — in 1960 a contest was held for a new name, and the humbler Slnečné jazerá, the Sunny Lakes, won.
