The rest of Italy calls it marocchino or espressino, but in Pescara you order a vetrino. The name comes from the vessel: in 1995 the barista Carlo Miccoli reached for punch glasses and poured espresso, milk foam and cocoa into them. The drink spread to every bar in town and picked up a summer version with zabaione and ice cream. So the local coffee classic here is not quite thirty years old, and people talk about it as if it had always been there.
