About coffee in Chieming
In 2001 a diver pulled a gold cauldron weighing close to eleven kilograms off the bed of the Chiemsee, two hundred metres from the shore at Chieming. The decoration looked Celtic and for a moment people spoke of a find two thousand years old. Then the experts ruled that the vessel was made no earlier than the end of the nineteenth century, and most likely in a Munich goldsmith's workshop in the Nazi years; the press christened it Hitler's chamber pot. The cauldron went for three hundred thousand euros, the next owner valued it in the hundreds of millions, and it ended in a Swiss auction and fraud trials.
