About coffee in Bucovice
Bučovice Castle looks as if it had been shipped straight from Italy, and it survived almost untouched because for two centuries it housed not princes but accountants. The Liechtensteins set up their main accounts office here and moved chanceries in from Vienna and Valtice. Prince Alois I was reportedly so taken with the courtyard arcades that he wanted them hauled off to Vienna. He was talked out of it by Josef Hardtmuth, the inventor of artificial graphite, who was remodelling the offices here: the roof truss rests on the arcades, so without them the castle would simply collapse.
