1782年、ヨハネス・ファン・ネレはLeuvehavenにコーヒーと紅茶とタバコの店を開き、その一世紀半後、彼の会社はグリム童話でコーヒーを売っていた。社員の一人が、漁師とその妻の話を、古い炻器の壺に住む小人ピッヘルメーの物語に作り替えたのだ。その絵本に入れる絵は、コーヒーや紅茶を買うと集まるシールと引き換えにもらえ、小人自身はのちにレコードにも舞台にも進出した。ファン・ネレのコーヒーは1990年代に終わり、小人は2008年に自分の記念切手をもらった — ここでは広告のほうが商品より長生きした。
