The most famous café in Molfetta was not famous for coffee. People simply called it "Chezzelìcchie", after the owner's nickname, and you went there for spumone - a semifreddo the Cozzoli family made better than anyone else in town. The same family later ran the Caffè d'Italia at numbers 111-115 in the Borgo, until in 1944 the place changed owner and sign, becoming Bar Italia. What the café sold here was cold, and for a long time coffee was an accessory to it.
