About coffee in Forchheim
For a few hundred years Forchheim insisted that Pontius Pilate was born here. A Latin verse about that Pilate of Forchheim, of German stock, who crucified the Almighty, stood on a stone in the town wall right into the nineteenth century, and visitors were shown his supposed trousers. The legend later moved to neighboring Hausen, but the Pilatushof has stayed in town to this day. Titles are handled just as freely here: the castle called the Kaiserpfalz was built and occupied by bishops, and the imperial name only attached itself to it recently.
