Body (mouthfeel)
Body, often called mouthfeel, is the physical sensation of weight and texture that coffee leaves on your tongue. It is not about the flavor itself, but whether the brew feels in your mouth like light water, smooth tea, or coating, whole milk. This effect depends on the amount of natural oils and tiny coffee particles that pass through the filter into your cup. For instance, coffee brewed in a Chemex using a thick paper filter will feel light and clean like a herbal infusion, while a French press brew will feel noticeably heavier and thicker. The easiest way to evaluate body is to take a sip and gently roll the coffee around your mouth before swallowing.
