The specialty coffee app Free on iOS and Android

Five parts, one app
They work together: the bean you match in Atlas Lab shows you the café that pours it, and that visit becomes a stamp and Coffee Miles.

Café map
Only checked specialty cafés and roasters, with filters that turn a city into a shortlist.

Coffee Passport
A stamp for every café you actually visit, in a design unique to each city.

Atlas Lab
Six questions, then a match score on every bean, in SCA flavour-wheel language.

Guided brewing
Recipes from champions, roasters and the community, with a timer that tells you what to pour and when.

Coffee Miles
Miles for visits, brews and ratings, and 20 levels to climb.
More about Coffee Miles
Before the trip, in the city, after the visit
Specialty Atlas works before you leave, while you're out, and long after, when the visit turns into a stamp, a rating and a bag of beans you want to brew properly at home.
Before the trip
Plan your route
Save a shortlist before you leave the flat or the hotel, and check what each place is pouring this week.
In the city
Discover on the move
The map, your taste profile and what's on the bar right now turn a spontaneous stop into a good one.
After the visit
Keep the visit
Rate the visit, add a private note, collect the stamp and the Coffee Miles, then brew the bean you liked at home with a recipe that suits it. Come December, the whole year comes back as Wrapped.

Questions and answers
Is there a paid version or anything to buy in the app?
No. There is no paid plan and nothing to buy in the app for coffee drinkers. The map, Atlas Lab, the passport, Coffee Miles, recipes and brewing are free. Cafés and roasters pay for Specialty Atlas Business, which never puts any of your features behind a paywall.
Which phones does it run on?
iPhone and Android. Get it from the App Store or Google Play. It speaks 16 languages, starts in your phone's language, and you can switch it in settings.
Do I need an account?
Not to look around. As a guest you can browse the map of cafés, roasters and events, the beans and the recipes, and even brew with the player. A free account adds what's yours: favourites and the want-to-visit list, visit ratings, passport stamps and Coffee Miles, your own recipes and the brew journal.
What does the app do with my location?
It asks first, and uses your location only while you're using the app: to centre the map, show what's nearby, confirm a check-in at a café and let you know when you pass a place on your list. There's no tracking in the background, and the map works without location too. Just pick your city. In Settings → Your data you can export your profile data or delete your account.
Can I use Specialty Atlas without the app?
Partly. City guides, café and roaster pages, beans, recipes, events and the Magazine are all on this website. The app adds what needs your phone: the map with all its filters and beans on bar, Atlas Lab matching, passport stamps, the brewing player and Coffee Miles.
