About coffee in Vrchlabi
For a century and a half Vrchlabí has lived off things that get you from A to B — only the things keep changing. The Petera firm started out in 1864 with horse harnesses, carriages and sleighs, was mostly building car bodies by the 1920s, and after the war became part of Škoda, which built the legendary 1203 van here. The last car, a Roomster, rolled off the line in 2012, and the plant hasn't turned out a single vehicle since. What it turns out instead is gearboxes, more than five million of them, and roughly half go into cars from Volkswagen's other brands.
