About coffee in Uherske Hradiste
In the 1950s, the prison attached to the courthouse in Uherské Hradiště was where the secret police interrogated political prisoners. It was here that the interrogator Alois Grebeníček came up with the torture known as the electric boots, and in the prison courtyard five men from the anti-communist group Světlana were executed. Years later Grebeníček was charged with abusing prisoners, but he never lived to see a verdict: his health brought the trial to a halt. Now the district court and the prosecutor's office are moving back inside those same walls, and with them comes a memorial to the people who were tormented here.
