About coffee in Frystat
Fryštát had town rights, a square and a castle before anyone found coal here, and yet today it goes by someone else's name. In 1948 it was merged with the surrounding municipalities, and the new town was named Karviná, after a village that for centuries had counted for little next to it. The mines then swallowed that village: the baroque church of St Peter of Alcantara sank 36 metres and still stands tilted by almost 7 degrees. So Karviná is the name of a place that has all but disappeared, and its entire old centre is Fryštát.
