People from the Prostor association stood up for it: in 1993, together with Unijazz, they organised a festival that had saving and restoring the quarter written into its name. Year after year the concerts drew audiences and journalists into these streets, and since then roughly half of the private houses have been restored. Few monuments owe this much to an audience.
