Specialty coffee in Rzeszow

Under Rzeszów's Rynek there are three levels of cellars dug into loess, the deepest twelve meters underground. They were called sklepy dólne, lower shops, because that is exactly what they were — a few were still trading in the 1970s. The trouble is that loess lets water through and the underground began to crumble: during the occupation the ground caved in by the town hall, and cars dropped into the holes. In 1960 the city sent cavers from the Kraków Mountaineering Club down under its own Rynek, because nobody knew any more what was down there.
