Specialty coffee in Pszczyna

In 1865 the Prince of Pszczyna sent twenty deer to Białowieża and got four bison in return: a bull and three cows. That was the start of the oldest bison breeding herd in the world, and to this day every animal born here gets a name beginning with Pl, after the German name of the town, Pless. The herd grew to seventy-odd head, and then the war and the Silesian Uprisings left three of them. The rebuilding of the species started from those three: more than half the gene pool of today's European bison comes from a single Pszczyna bull, Plebejer.
