This is where De'Longhi comes from, founded in 1902 as a small workshop making industrial parts and today one of the world's largest makers of coffee equipment. The breakthrough came not from espresso but from capsules: the deal with Nespresso and the Lattissima, made in its own factories, got this town into millions of homes, and the takeover of the Swiss firm Eversys added machines for bars. A provincial town on the way to Venice quietly set the world's morning ritual and never made a legend of it.
