About coffee in Szamotuly
In the Renaissance, Szamotuły had more students at the Kraków Academy than any other private town in Poland, and got a proverb out of it: "deaf, so long as he's from Szamotuły". The Bohemian Brethren founded the first printing house in Wielkopolska here, and the town produced Wacław of Szamotuły, the finest Polish composer of his day. Today you would struggle to read any of that off a small town outside Poznań. The proverb outlived both the printing house and the composer.
