Specialty coffee in Puchov

Púchov has held on to a craft that died out everywhere else in Slovakia: modrotlač, cotton dyed with indigo over a pattern printed in resist paste. Of the dozens of dye works the country once had, only one is still running — the Trnka family's workshop, moved here from nearby Záriečie in the late 19th century into a former tannery with pits for dyeing. The cloth is dipped into the vat for twenty or thirty minutes at a time, and the blue only comes out in the air, after bath upon bath. The local folk costume is decorated with modrotlač from this very workshop, so the town's entire folklore has a single address.
