Specialty coffee in Lana

Lana harvests 60,000-70,000 tonnes of apples a year, roughly one percent of all European production, on thirty-six square kilometres. Rainfall here is about 500 millimetres a year, very little for orchards, so since the 12th century the water has run in waale - channels strung along the slopes.
