About coffee in Koscian
Kościan cloth was counterfeited so eagerly that in 1472 Casimir IV Jagiellon gave the town a defence against forgers: every bolt was from then on marked with a lead seal bearing the tower from the town's arms, an eagle and the letter C. It counts as the first protective mark in the history of the Polish Commonwealth - devised not to show off, but to prove the thing was not a fake. Kościan was then Greater Poland's second centre after Poznań, with twenty-one guilds operating in it. Almost nothing is left of that town but the idea we now call a label.
