About coffee in Blaubeuren Abbey
Five kilometres from Blaubeuren, in the Hohle Fels cave, a figurine of a woman carved from mammoth ivory was dug up in 2008: six centimetres, around forty thousand years old, and the oldest undisputed depiction of a human being we know of. It has no head - in its place is a loop, so someone wore it round their neck. Seventy centimetres away lay a flute made of bird bone, the oldest known musical instrument in the world. One scrap of cave floor held the beginnings of both sculpture and music, and the originals stand today in the museum in town.
