Specialty coffee in Lubon

Before Hans Poelzig designed the sets for the Golem film and the IG Farben building in Frankfurt, he put up a sulfuric acid factory in Luboń. What he came out with was a brick edifice with buttresses and semicircular windows, closer to a church than to a superphosphate warehouse, and it was being shown in lectures and exhibitions before anyone had managed to finish it. The plant ran until 2008, and of fifty-eight hectares little survives: this hall and five engineers' villas. In architecture textbooks it is an icon of early modernism; in Luboń they just call it the hall.
