Specialty coffee in Jastrzebie-Zdroj

Jastrzębie began with a failed attempt to drill for coal: in 1859 Baron von Schlieben's bits hit iodine-bromine brine, and instead of a mine, a spa went up here. It was named Bad Königsdorff-Jastrzemb, it treated mainly children, and after the war it took in as many as a hundred and fifty thousand patients a year. Coal claimed its due a century later — mining works drained the brine away, and in 1967 the town lost its spa status. The Zdrój was never struck from the name; the brine for the inhalatorium in Park Zdrojowy, on the other hand, now has to be trucked in from Zabłocie.
